Gahan Accountants — Case Study

We didn’t begin with the website. We began with the business.

Gahan Accountants’ previous website listed accounting services, but it did not communicate Paddy Gahan’s experience, specialist knowledge or the depth of guidance he provides.

By taking the time to understand Paddy, his clients and the way he works, Steven Vincent Media uncovered a much stronger position—and built the new website and digital strategy around it.

The opportunity

The business was stronger than the website suggested

Our job was to uncover what genuinely distinguished Paddy and turn that understanding into a clearer digital position.

  • 35 years of experience with Irish businesses
  • Specialist knowledge of creators and emerging income models
  • Practical support for businesses at every stage of growth
  • Ongoing financial guidance—not just annual compliance

Creating a New Digital Foundation

Paddy Gahan already had an established accountancy practice, decades of business experience and a strong commitment to helping his clients succeed. What he did not have was a digital presence that properly communicated that value.

The original gahan.ie website provided basic information, but it did not clearly express Paddy’s specialist knowledge, the audiences he served or the depth of ongoing guidance available to his clients.

The real challenge

The business was stronger than its digital presence suggested.

The objective was not simply to make the original website look more modern. We needed to understand the real business behind it and create a completely new digital foundation capable of communicating its value and supporting future growth.

Established expertise

Paddy brought 35 years of experience working with Irish businesses, but that depth of knowledge was not clearly visible online.

Unclear positioning

The existing website presented accounting services without communicating what made Paddy’s approach and guidance different.

Different customer needs

Creators, startups, growing businesses, established companies and tradespeople needed clearer journeys tailored to their situations.

A platform for growth

The new website needed to serve existing clients while creating the structure for SEO, content, enquiries and future marketing.

The decision

Rather than adapting the old website, we started again. A new identity, domain, Shopify website and digital strategy would be developed around the genuine strengths of Gahan Accountants.

Why the identity changed

From Gahan.ie to GahanAccountants.ie

Building the new website also created an opportunity to give the business a clearer digital identity—one that immediately communicated who Gahan Accountants is and provided a stronger foundation for its future content and services.

Original digital identity

gahan.ie

A concise domain carrying the Gahan name, but one that did not immediately explain the nature of the business to someone discovering it for the first time.

New digital identity

gahanaccountants.ie

A clearer and more descriptive identity that connects the established Gahan name directly with the accountancy expertise and support the business provides.

The domain change was a strategic branding decision—not an SEO shortcut. Its value comes from improved clarity, stronger positioning and a digital identity that customers can understand immediately.

Immediate clarity

New visitors can understand the nature of the business before they even open the website.

Stronger positioning

The new identity connects Paddy’s established name with the professional accountancy service being offered.

Better customer understanding

The clearer identity reduces uncertainty and helps establish relevance and trust from the first interaction.

A foundation for growth

The new domain supports an expanding structure of services, specialist audiences and useful accountancy content.

A name aligned with the business

The transition gave the completely new Shopify website a clear, credible and descriptive identity from which the wider digital strategy could develop.

Building a Service-Led Shopify Website From the Ground Up

The new website was planned around Gahan Accountants’ services, customers and future growth before visual design began. Every page, journey and technical decision had a defined role within the wider digital strategy.

Strategy before design

We did not begin by choosing a template.

We began by understanding Paddy’s business, the people he wanted to help and the questions those people were searching for. The Shopify website was then structured around that understanding.

One website build. A complete digital foundation.

Strategy and architecture

The structure was developed around how customers understand their needs and how they naturally search for accountancy support.

The launch was the beginning—not the finish line

The completed Shopify website gave Gahan Accountants a professional digital home. Its real value was providing the structure from which specialist content, SEO and the wider marketing system could continue developing.

Explore the customer strategy

One Firm. Five Specialist Customer Journeys.

A general list of accountancy services could not properly communicate how Paddy helps people at very different stages of business. We created dedicated pathways that speak directly to each priority audience’s questions, responsibilities and ambitions.

Customer-led architecture

Different customers arrive with different questions.

The website needed to recognise those differences immediately. Instead of asking every visitor to interpret a generic list of services, each priority audience received a clearer route to the guidance most relevant to them.

The website was structured around people—not just accounting services.

A content creator managing sponsorship income faces different questions from a tradesperson handling VAT, or an established business planning its next stage of growth.

The underlying accountancy expertise remains connected, but the language, examples, content and customer journey are shaped around the needs of each audience.

The outcome

Five clear entry points now lead into one connected accountancy brand. Customers can recognise themselves, understand the relevant support and move towards an informed conversation with Paddy.

See how visibility was developed

The Website Launched. The SEO Work Continued.

Building the new website created the foundation. Sustainable search growth required continuous analysis, technical improvements, useful content and regular decisions based on what the data revealed.

Measurement is not optimisation

Connecting Google tools is not the same as doing SEO.

Google Analytics and Search Console provide valuable information, but they do not improve rankings by themselves. The value comes from interpreting that information and taking consistent action across the website.

SEO became an ongoing part of the wider business strategy.

Search data showed which pages Google was beginning to understand, what potential customers were searching for and where the website had opportunities to improve.

That evidence informed the next round of technical work, page improvements, internal links and content development. Each improvement created new data, allowing the process to continue.

Search-data analysis

Search Console data was reviewed to identify queries, pages, positions and opportunities already beginning to gain visibility.

Technical improvements

Indexing, page structure, metadata, mobile usability and other technical weaknesses were monitored and improved over time.

Search-led content

New pages and useful resources were developed around genuine questions, customer needs and relevant search intent.

Page optimisation

Existing pages were refined as search data revealed where clearer wording, stronger structure or additional information was needed.

Internal linking

Related services, specialist hubs and useful content were connected to create clearer journeys for visitors and search engines.

Monitoring and refinement

Performance continued to be measured so the strategy could respond to progress, weaknesses and emerging opportunities.

The principle

SEO is not a switch activated when a website launches. It is an evidence-led process of improving the website, expanding its usefulness and responding continuously to real search behaviour.

Explore the wider system

Beyond the Website: A Connected Marketing System

The website became the central platform for a wider digital strategy. Search, content, social media, video, email and analytics now work together to build visibility, trust and more opportunities for meaningful client enquiries.

The website at the centre

Every marketing activity needs somewhere valuable to lead.

Social posts, videos, emails and search visibility become more useful when they bring people back to clear specialist guidance, relevant services and an easy route to contact Paddy.

Each channel has a role—but they work better together.

Useful content helps answer customer questions. Search makes that content discoverable. Social media and video extend its reach. Email maintains the relationship, while analytics shows what should be improved next.

Rather than treating these as disconnected services, we are developing them as parts of one evolving system.

See the business impact

A Stronger Digital Presence Built Around a Stronger Business

The value of the project extends beyond a new website or improved search positions. Gahan Accountants now has a clearer market position, stronger specialist journeys and a digital system that can continue developing alongside the business.

Commercial relevance

The strategy connects Paddy’s expertise with the people who need it.

The new digital presence makes it easier for potential clients to recognise Paddy’s specialist knowledge, understand how he can help and move from initial research towards a direct conversation.

Specialist positioning began creating real business opportunities.

Paddy has reported regular new enquiries and clients from the creator market—an audience that the original website did not clearly identify or address.

This demonstrates the commercial importance of combining genuine expertise with clear positioning, useful content and an accessible enquiry journey.

A clearer market position

Visitors can now understand who Paddy helps, what makes his approach different and where his specialist knowledge is most valuable.

Discoverable expertise

Paddy’s experience is now supported by specialist pages and useful content that can be discovered through Google.

Stronger enquiry journeys

Relevant content, dedicated audience hubs and clearer calls to action help potential clients move towards direct contact.

A platform that keeps developing

The website provides a flexible foundation for new content, emerging opportunities and the wider marketing strategy.
